More Mukanya

A slightly different version -than on the CD "Live At El Rey"- of "Marehwarehwa", with some great dancing by both Thomas Mapfumo and the backing chorus. Unfortunately cut in three (because of the length).

Watch this clip for a few times and it will stick in your mind forever....

  2. great, i miss thomas and harare. one thing, the guy with shakers and a west coat, whats his name. these are some of the less celebrated people to have graced thomas' bands but who made the live shows back in the days a delight to attend every wednesday in that underground club, which i also cant remember what it was called.

but mukanya here is in his element - you should also mention that when he dances there, you can here his shoes as if they are hands clapping. its most vigorous dance but with the grace of hands clapping..

  3. Most iconic musician of all time for Zimbabwe, there's no going in between the love for Thomas , it's either you love him or not. HE is more than a musician, he'e a prophet, a cult unto himself, a man who does not need to speak to be heard for he has spoken long time back. No other musician has spoken for the deprived people of Zimbabwe like Tafirenyika. In every album he has released Zimbabwe is forever mentioned, that is his love for the motherland. Place him anywhere you want, Bob Marley , Bob Dylan. His doctorate is recognition not for him only but also for the ideas he stands for. We Zimbabwe will forever be indebted to this icon. We miss you Mukanya. Yous songs draw us closer to Zimbabwe whereever we are in all four corners of the globe. The track, Zimbabwe Urinyika yangu, makes me cry. Long Live Mukanya Tafirenyika, Thomas!!!!!!
