Under one of my hats I review plenty of classical CDs, especially pre-18th century ones. And the French, back in the Middle Ages (11th century or earlier) developed solmization, it's ancestor. Given how long artistic traditions stick in France, it's not surprising the Super Boiro Band learned how to form key relationships and harmonic progressions via solfege: even as late as the 19th century, one of the great music teaching institutions of France, was using solfege and Church modes to teach music to its students, some of whom became very famous. (Such as Saint-Saens, composer of the Carnival of the Animals, and the tone poem, Danse Macabre.) At a bet, many of those French priests that came to Africa were taught solfege as well, and that's how the Super Boiros acquired it! Though how much, I can't say. Hope you don't mind my speculations.BarryBnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7791963494354887351.post-80890618683285598262011-09-08T11:48:28.709-07:002011-09-08T11:48:28.709-07:00Fantastic!
